CLASSES OFFERED AT AZ ICE GILBERT
Snowplow Sam 1-4: If your child is ages 3-5 and has never skated, this is a great starting point to learn the basics of skating. Snowplow Sam classes are bases on the USFS Basic Skills Program. Children will advance through levels 1-4 with each level gradually becoming more challenging.
Basic 1-6: These classes introduce skaters to the fundamentals of the sport. These levels cover forward and backward skating, stops, edges, turning and crossovers, as well as fundamental jump and spin techniques. Upon completion skaters can advance to our Freeskate program.
Pre Freeskate: Formerly Basic 7 & 8, the prefreeskate curriculum prepares skaters to enter the freeskate levels, teaching them waltz jumps, fundamental spin technique and more.
Freeskate 1-6: These classes will cover the core curriculum of the U.S. Figure Skating Freeskate levels. However, we have redesigned it so that skaters work on all of the necessary skills with multiple instructors to prepare them for semi-private and private lessons. This is the point where the skater can decide between competitive and recreational approach to the sport of figure skating.
Adult / Teen 1-6: The Adult/Teen curriculum is designed for the beginner adult/ teen skater. It will promote physical fitness and improve balance and coordination while learning proper skating techniques. Although divided into levels, the adult/ teen skater will progress at an individual rate while being challenged and motivated.
Adult / Teen Advanced:
Very similar to Freeskate Advanced & Elite but for adults. This is the point where the skater can decide between competitive and recreational approach to the sport of figure skating. Please contact us for more information.

Learn to Skate Class Information
At the beginning of each semester, every student gets a name badge. This badge must be worn to class each week.
Each student receives 4 public skate passes. These can be used for public skate admission for the student, and they can also be used for family and friends. These passes are connected to your DaySmart account and can be used at the front desk when you arrive for a public session. Passes expire at the end of each semester.
Each class holds a minimum of 3 students and a maximum of 15
Consecutive levels may be combined if less than 3 students are registered.
There are no refunds for any class.
Recommended attire for every student would be loose-fitted clothes such as sweat pants and a light jacket. Gloves or mittens are a must and helmets are strongly recommended.
Thin socks are much better than thick socks. It’s best to have to skate fit to the foot and not to the sock.
Figure skating, hockey, public session, broomball, learn to skate, birthday parties and so much more...
